This Privacy Policy describes how KirokuKit collects, uses, and shares information when you use our website and services (“Service”). This policy is a draft provided for transparency purposes and does not constitute formal legal advice.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Anonymous Usage Events
When you use the Service (including the free calculator), we collect anonymous usage events to understand how the tool is used. Each visitor is assigned a random anonymous identifier stored in your browser's localStorage under the key rg_anon_id (value format: rg_anon_XXXX). This identifier is not linked to your name, email address, or any personally identifying information.
Events we collect include:
- tool_viewed: when you open a tool page
- tool_calculated: when you submit a calculation
- ics_downloaded: when you download a calendar reminder file
- save_clicked: when you attempt to save a record
- signup_clicked: when you click a sign-up prompt
- pricing_viewed: when you view the pricing page
These events are stored in our database and used only for internal analytics. We do not share this event data with third parties.
1.2 Account Information
If you create an account, we collect your email address and any information you provide during sign-up. We use Supabase to manage user authentication and data storage.
1.3 Saved Records
If you are signed in and save a subscription calculation, that data (service name, dates, cost) is stored in our database linked to your account. You can delete your saved records at any time from your account.
1.4 Payment Information
If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. Stripe's privacy policy governs the handling of your payment information.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the Service
- To calculate free trial end dates and generate ICS calendar files
- To understand anonymous usage patterns via anonymous events
- To manage your account and saved records (if you have an account)
- To process payments via Stripe for paid plans
3. ICS Calendar Files
When you download an ICS calendar file, it is generated in your browser session and downloaded directly to your device. We do not store copies of downloaded ICS files. Notifications and reminders from ICS files are handled entirely by your calendar application — KirokuKit does not send alerts, push notifications, or emails related to calendar reminders.
4. Data Storage and Retention
- Anonymous event data is retained indefinitely for analytics purposes.
- Account data is retained until you delete your account.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
5. Cookies and Local Storage
We use browser localStorage (not traditional cookies) to store:
- Anonymous identifier (rg_anon_xxx): a random ID that persists until you clear browser storage
- Session identifier (rg_session_xxx): cleared when you close the browser
We also use Supabase authentication, which may set session cookies to keep you logged in. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following service providers as necessary to operate the Service:
- Supabase: database and authentication provider
- Stripe: payment processing for paid plans only
- Vercel: hosting and deployment infrastructure. Vercel processes server-side request data including IP addresses and request logs as part of normal hosting operations.
- Google: if you choose to sign in using Google OAuth, Google's authentication services process your Google account information. Google's privacy policy applies to that interaction.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, please contact us via the Contact page.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. The “Last updated” date reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
